What is Azimac 500 mg?

Azimac contains the active ingredient azithromycin, an antibiotic from the macrolide class. It is used to treat bacterial infections of the respiratory system (sinuses, throat, and chest), skin, and urinary and reproductive systems.

How is Azimac 500 mg used?

One tablet (500 mg) daily for 3 days, or as prescribed by your doctor depending on the type of infection. Take it one hour before or two hours after meals.

Is it effective against all types of infections?

No, Azimac is only effective against bacterial infections and is not effective against colds or the flu because these are viral infections.

Does it have side effects?

It may cause some mild symptoms such as slight stomach pain, diarrhea, nausea, or dizziness. Rarely, it causes allergic reactions or heart palpitations. Therefore, it should be stopped if any abnormal symptoms appear.

Can it be stopped when symptoms improve?

This is not recommended; the full course should be completed even if you feel better to prevent the infection from returning or the bacteria from becoming resistant to the antibiotic.
